We Need Less Jobs
11/03/2013
Every politician seems to have a plan to create more jobs but what does that mean? The need for a job comes from the need for someone to perform work that will solve a problem. So, they want to create more work? That aside, as new technology is developed it will reduce the jobs required for society to function. We could already spend far less time at work and still produce enough for everyone to survive and enjoy their lives. More time means higher quality lives as time as tremendous value. We may even need to get used to the idea that there may simply not be a need for everyone to have a job. This is the future we as a society should be striving for and not to just keep finding work so there are more jobs.
New Tech Reduces Jobs
11/02/2013
In our society we use new technology to automate as much work as possible because it allows some of us to make more money as it makes workers more efficient or eliminates their jobs their jobs all together. But wait, doesn't new technology create more jobs? It shouldn't have a net result of job creation because that would mean the technology is creating more work. No one would use technology that creates more work and expenses. Technology will continue to evolve to the point where the work required for almost all human needs is automated. Hopefully one day this will result in people being able to work less while maintaining a quality standard of living. In the interim people will have to compete for the fewer low paying jobs as society adapts.
